Roof Replacement in Piedmont
We strip your old roof to the deck, fix what we find underneath and build a new system from underlayment to ridge cap. Your beds, siding and driveway stay covered while we work, and you hear from us before anything changes.
When replacement is the right call
A roof is a system: decking, underlayment, flashing, ventilation and shingles. Replacement makes sense when the shingles have reached the end of their service life across most slopes, or when hail and wind have bruised enough of the mat that patching would only chase leaks. If the damage is limited to one area, our roof repair or roof inspections pages may be the better starting point, and we will tell you so.
Our crew brings over 20 years of combined roofing experience, and we work under an Oklahoma residential roofing license. Every replacement we install is backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty, which covers how we put the roof together.
What a full replacement includes
Tear-off to the deck
Every layer of old shingles, felt and fasteners comes off. Laying new shingles over old ones conceals rot and holds heat, so we skip that shortcut.
Sheathing inspection and replacement
With the old roof stripped, our crew checks each sheet for spongy areas, OSB that has started to separate and split planks. Bad sections are cut out and new sheathing goes in, and we take photos so you can see every sheet we changed and the reason for it.
Underlayment and valley protection
Synthetic underlayment covers the whole deck. In valleys and around pipes and vents, where runoff collects, we add self-adhered ice and water membrane.
New flashing and drip edge
Step flashing along walls, pipe boots and drip edge are all replaced, not reused. Worn metal left in place is the most common source of leaks on a newly shingled roof.
Balanced ventilation
We compare soffit intake with ridge exhaust and correct the balance. An attic without enough airflow bakes the shingles from underneath through an Oklahoma summer and cuts years off their life.
Shingle options explained
We explain the difference between architectural and impact-rated shingles and how each one handles hail. Some insurers give a credit for impact-rated roofs, so it is worth a call to your agent.
Signs your roof needs replacing
Granules in the gutters
As asphalt ages, shingles lose their mineral surface. Grit piling up at the downspouts means the mat underneath is open to UV and breaking down quickly.
Curling or cupped shingles
Lifted edges or tabs that sink in the middle tell you the asphalt has dried out. Wind catches those edges and tears them loose.
Hail bruising on every slope
Dark, soft marks where hail knocked the granules off weaken the shingle mat. Once they appear on every slope, patching is no longer practical.
Repeat leaks in new spots
A single leak is a repair job. A fresh ceiling stain each season usually points to underlayment that is giving out too.
A roofline that dips
When the deck sinks between rafters, the sheathing under the shingles has usually soaked up water and lost strength. Have it checked before another heavy rain.
How a replacement day runs
- 1
Roof and attic estimate
We inspect the slopes, flashing and attic, measure the roof and count the layers. You get a written, line-item estimate you can read through at your own pace.
- 2
A plan with your household
Before work starts, we agree on where the dumpster sits, which cars need to move and where pets should stay. You know the start time and who to ask if something comes up.
- 3
Protection goes down first
Tarps cover flower beds, shrubs and patios. Plywood shields the AC unit, and we keep debris chutes and catch tarps along the walls so nothing lands on your siding or windows.
- 4
Tear-off and install
Most homes are stripped, dried in and shingled in a single day. If we find bad decking, we stop, show you photos and explain the change before replacing it.
- 5
Cleanup and final walk
We run magnetic sweepers over the lawn, driveway and beds, haul off every scrap and walk the property with you before we leave.
What sets the cost of a new roof
Every roof gets its own number, built from its measurements and from what we find on the slopes and in the attic. We do not quote a total sight unseen. The items below push the cost up or down, and each one appears as its own line on the written estimate you receive.
- Roof area and pitch
- Roofs are measured in squares of 100 square feet, and each added square means more shingles, underlayment and labor. A steep pitch also slows the work, because the crew stays tied off with harnesses and sets roof jacks before laying each course.
- Old layers coming off
- Two or three existing layers take longer to strip than one and fill more of the dumpster, so tear-off and disposal both go up.
- Condition of the decking
- Rotted or delaminated sheathing is replaced sheet by sheet. Nobody can know the true count until the old roof is off, so we photograph every sheet we swap and show you before it is added to the bill.
- Material choice and roof details
- Impact-rated shingles carry a higher material cost than standard architectural shingles. Extra valleys, chimneys, skylights and new ridge or soffit vents add flashing, cuts and labor time.
Roof replacement questions
Something not covered here? (405) 870-2474
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most homes are finished in one day once the crew starts. A larger or steeper roof, or a lot of rotted decking, can stretch the job into a second day. We also watch the forecast closely and will not open up a roof with storms on the way.
Do I need to be home during the work?
No. We do like to talk with someone when the crew pulls up and again at the final walk-through. If you are away, we phone you before any change to the plan, such as replacing decking.
Can you put new shingles over my old ones?
We do not do layovers. An extra layer hides soft decking, adds weight to the rafters and holds heat under the new shingles so they wear out faster. Going down to the bare deck lets us fix the sheathing and flash every wall and pipe correctly.
Will my hail damage claim cover a new roof?
Coverage depends on the terms of your policy and on the adjuster's own inspection. Our part is documenting the roof with photos and explaining the damage in plain terms. The claim decision stays between you and your insurance company, and we never step into the adjuster's role.
What warranty comes with the new roof?
Our installation work is backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty. The shingle manufacturer provides a separate product warranty on the material itself, and we review it with you when you pick your shingle.
Will the trucks and dumpster damage my lawn or driveway?
We park the dumpster on the driveway and set it on boards where the surface calls for it. Heavy equipment stays off grass and soft ground. Anything tracked or dropped gets cleaned up before the crew leaves for the day.
